Correcting Benjamin

So, here is the Benjamin's post about the movie "Twelve Monkeys"... I'm doing this one because I saw the movie not so long ago and I really liked it, so here it is:

There are so many movies that are really good and that I like! But there’s one special, I don’t really know why, but I always think about this movie as my favorite. This movie it’s called “Twelve Monkeys”. The first time that I saw it I was like 8 or 10 years old. The movie it’s about a future (it was filmed in 1995 and it was suppose that the future in that time it was 2003) in which all the human kind was attacked by a new kind of virus wiping out the 99% of inhabitants of the earth. The survivors’ hided underground, in an authoritarian and violent government. So the scientist of this time created a time machine so somebody can travel to the time before the first infection of the virus (1993) so they could create a cure and find the responsible of the destruction of the human kind. So James Cole (Bruce Willis) it’s selected to do this travel through the time because he haves more resistance to the consequences of the travel, in which the mind starts to play tricks on him.  In the first travel there was a mistake and he ended in a mental hospital where he meets the Dr. Kathryn Railly (Madeleine Stowe) and a real lunatic called Jeffrey Goines (Brad Pitt, one of his first movies). The fun part of the movie it’s that you don’t know what the movie it’s about at the beginning, and also you don’t know if the main character it’s living in a real or an imaginary world. It’s pretty confusing… I think that’s why I love this movie!

And here it is my corrected version:

I hope I did it well correcting this.. if not, then you are welcome to do a correction of the correction.

Bye.

London Trip

Last week as I imagine you remember we had to plan a trip to London, what would be the activities that we would do there, what places would we visit, how much each activity would cost and how would we get there on subway or metro as I think British call the underground train system.

Personally I found this activity quite interesting, not because of all the things that London have to offer to tourist, because I believe that if you look for fun activities you can find them anywhere on any country you visit, I found this activity interesting because as I was completing the table with the program for the activities you kind of imagine how that experience would be like. I don't know if it happens to you but you can kind of imagine yourself visiting the places you were writing them down.

One of the things that I found more attracting was this night ride that the London Eye got to offer, I really think that that should be one really great and unforgettable experience to do on a London visit as a tourist. Now about the activity itself, I found it really easy, I think it was no problem for me at least to get the information from the different sites, because it doesn't matter if you are planning a trip or just searching for information to study some specific topic you kind of always end up on a site that it's completely in English, so you know you have to look for keywords such as "how to get there" or "getting there" for this case, so i think that there was nothing hard about getting the information, but the really work came when you tried to found how much would it cost to do each activity, because most of the time they have different prices if you were going with a group or if you were going on witch date or even if the activity was free, it didn't really mention it.. So you kind of got to guest.

But in general it was a great activity and now I really hope that I can go to London someday.

Workshop Workshop

Today I really don't feel like writing, but as I still have to do it, I thought it would be easier if I talk about the workshop work I have been doing this last time (since Ricardo made his presentation I'm not quite sure if I should say "workshop" or "studio" but on this case I'm going to stay with workshop).

So the project me and my classmates has been working on it's called "Ocupo, Luego Exsito". The idea for this project was a result from lots of classes in which we all discussed about what topic we think was interesting to investigate and understand such as discrimination, Chilean educational system, medical abortion an things like that. All of them social topics which we have an opinion about and the idea were to create a statement that we could put out on the streets and make people notice about something that they usually don’t pay attention to.

My personal idea was to talk about the political and commercial control of the television media and newspaper, I think that common people usually don’t realize about how controlled are the information they receive every day, and how this affect the way we see our country.

Finally the entire class decided that we would work on three central concepts: Power, Information and.. Well I really don't remember this last one, anyway we ended up on the concept of a "Responsible Citizen" and what does being a responsible citizen mean.

So we conclude that been a citizen doesn't mean exactly what the laws says.. Actually being a citizen means to take action in changes that you would like to see on your nearest community or even on your country so you don't have to wait until some politicians take resolution about topics that affects you.

Well it's has been a lot of work since those first classes, but I would like you to check our youtube channel  where you can find most of the works me and my class group have being doing.

Especially this motion graphics that I made with one of my classmates.  Hope you like it

Slumdog Millionare

A movie that I will always remember maybe more because of my story around the movie than the movie itself, is Slumdog Millionare. It's a 2008 indian and british co-production movie, directed by Danny Boyle who won like 11 academy awards (oscars) including of course "Best Movie", music, and others I don't remember at the moment but the funny thing about this movie is that.. I usually watch the academy awards ceremony every year and most of the time I have seen the movies that are nominated for each category (of course it's summer vacations so I have a lot of time to do this) so I can have an opinion on wich movie should win each category, but in 2009 even though this movie was nominated for a lot of awards I hadn't seen it before the award ceremony, so in every category that this movie was nominated I ruled against it, and naturally Slamdog Millionare won every category so I was rally mad by the end of the ceremony.

Finally I decided that i should just watch the movie (I don't remember the exact date but it was someday in march), so I invited my mom to the cinema to watch it with me and big surprise... I loved it. It's about htis little poor indian guy who gets an opportunity on the indian "Who wants to be a millionare" show and he gets to answer the questions correctly thanks to flashbacks of his poor sad life as a poor indian child, but the real reason of why he entered the contest in the first place, it was to gen on TV so his lost love "Latika" could watch him. I'm not going to spoil the end of the movie for those who haven't seen it yet,  but I can guarantee it's really great, has a nice photography direction and it's a really good story, and the entire movie is set on the modern days India so you can really get a sight of how is it like to live there.

After watching that movie I became kind of a fan of Danny Boyle's films, actually another movie he directed, 127 Hours, it's one of my favorites as well. So I invite to those of you who haven't seen Slumdog Millioner or 127 Hours to enjoy them.

Maybe Daft Punk

I don't really like one specific band or singer, to me it's all about the music so if I get to like one particular song I may download it and listen it once in a while and that's it, I don't care about the band or what style of music is and if I do search for other songs from that same band, I never really like more than one or two other song different from the one I already like.

So actually most of my playlist is just a mix of a lot of  different bands and styles but there is one sort of music that appears on it more than others and that is techno or however you would like to call it. Then between a lot of unknown and freaks Djs there is this band that i'm quite sure you haver heard of, Daft Punk. I have been listening to their music for actually just a few years now, I don't known why, I know  they have been arround for quite a long time but for some reason I have never liked their music until like 2 or 3 years ago and now I have most of their themes on my cellphone so I can hear them anytime of the day.

I think I like them because they don't do like hard techno music and their music never get to be like trance songs like most of Djs do at some point. Of course I don't really have one particular favorite song (or band for that matter), but I think if there is one I hear the most would have to be "Harder Better Faster Stronger" and I also like "Superheroes" very much.

By the way I was really excited about them making the music for the movie "Tron: legacy", such  a shame that the movie ended up to be so bad, anyway here is a video of the main theme for that movie made of course by Daft Punk, hope you like it.

Going South

This is a picture that I took on the summer of 2009 if I remember well. At first sight it may only appear as a picture of a fishing boat over the ocean but actually what is great about this picture it's what is going on on the other side of the camera as usual, this is a picture I took while me, my family and a family friends of us were on a travel to the south of Chile, the main destination was Chiloé but as my family were on a motorhome and our friends were on tents we didn't really have only one destination, we was actually jus wandering arround any place we were feeling like sightseeing so we finally spent like three or four days of the almost two weeks of our trip visiting Chiloé and the rest of the time we was driving from camping to camping arround Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt and all the beautiful national parks on that area, but im getting away from the photo history.

This photo in particular it was taken from a ferry that I don't really remember from where we took it but I do remember that the road, including the ferry belongs to the "carretera austral", so my father was really excited to go on the carretera austral as south as we could go so we took this one ferry and while we were traveling for like one hour more or less I went to a high deck and look to the ocean and saw this beautiful sceen of this nice and quiet fishing boat over the ocean with the Chiloé island on the back.

My father sold the motorhome now, so I always like to look at pictures like this one to remember the great trips and landscapes we used to witness not so much ago.

Hope you like the pic.

Mi thrid eye

My favourite piece of technology is actually one of my favourite things in the world and it's not because I use it all day or I go anyway with it, it's just that it holds a lot of the greatest and favourites moments of my life in it... I'm talking about my video camera, it's so small and light that I have it with me whenever I can and I don't even realize that I'm carrying it until I need to get a great video of something I don't want to forget. The story of how I got it's really funny because one day a friend of mine come to my house and told me "hey there's a great deal on this falabella website about a HD camera, but it's only for 5 more hours" and i'm like "what!? why didn't you told me earlier!?"... So I called my parents to ask them for the money but they didn't have this falabella's card (wich you had to have to get that promotion) and then my friend ask to his father to buy this camera for me jahjahaj, at this point there's like 3 hours left of the promotion and it's like 2am, finally my friend's dad agreed to bought this amazing camera for me and after all the problems I received my camera one week later and... totally worth the waiting!

I have had it for a year and a half now, and i use it almost every weekend whether if it's to record my grandfathers birthday or a party with my friends, it doesn't matter how drunk we are I always pull out the camera so I can get that great moment on video to watch it over and over again. I think that's why I love my camera so much it doesn't matter how boring my day was I can always go to my computer and revive the great moments I have recorded.
